Draft Guidelines for Museums

Draft Guidelines for Museums

National Disaster Management Authority has been in the process of developing draft National Guidelines on Disaster Risk Management for Museums since July 2016, following extensive consultation processes among experts and professionals in the field.

The approach of these guidelines are to serve as template for museums to develop their own disaster risk management plans and strategies through risk assessment, risk reduction measures, emergency response measures and planning for post-disaster recovery. Several workshops to generate awareness and build capacity have also been organised in collaboration with institutions such as the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and the National Museum Institute (NMI) along with Central Museums such as the Indian Museum, the Victoria Memorial Museum, the National Museum and Salar Jung Museum.

NDMA invites comments and review from all concerned stakeholders. The Draft guidelines can be downloaded from link mentioned below. Stakeholders may write in their comments and suggestions at e-mail id This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. latest by 11th April, 2017.
