Sensitization Exercise cum Demonstration Session at Parliament House, New Delhi- Session I
|
NDMA along with its stakeholders from Delhi Fire Service, MHA, NDRF, NSG, CISF, NCS, IB , Delhi Police organises 'Sensitization cum Mock Exercise for the Parliament security staff, personnel to review the status of the readiness in case of natural disasters.
👉 The sensitization took place in the form of discussion, presentations, interaction by the senior officials, stakeholders along with the demonstration by NDRF. The integrated multi-stakeholder sensitization exercise discussed about the fundamentals of Disaster management, preparedness, mitigation and components of response, Disaster vulnerabilities, risks, sensitization via Table top and Mock exercises etc.

Sensitization Exercise cum Demonstration Session concludes
|
The Sensitization Exercise cum Demonstration Session organized by National Disaster Management Authority, India along with its stakeholders for the Parliament House Security staff and personnel concluded on the 5th of April 2023.
👉 The exercise and demonstration were carried out to sensitize all personnel on emergency preparedness and response in case of occurrence of natural disasters with an integrated and coordinated approach in overall management amongst stakeholders and help in neutralising or reducing the impacts of these events.
👉 Loksabha speaker Om Birla also addressed the staff and stakeholders during the Sensitization session on disaster preparedness and management.
👉 The session had participation from the key appointment holders of Parliament and other stakeholders from Delhi Fire Service, Ministry of Home Affairs, NDRF, National Security Guard, Central Industrial Security Force, National Centre for Seismology, Intelligence Bureau, and Delhi Police.

Meeting regarding Expert group meeting of SCO member states
|
Senior officials from National Disaster Management Authority, India held a review meeting to discuss the preparations and the modalities for organising the Expert group meeting of SCO member states and meeting of the SCO Emergencies Ministers under the chairmanship of Sh. Kamal Kishore, Member Secretary, NDMA.
👉 The primary objective of this group is to share learning experiences, innovative practices and extended cooperation among the experts from SCO countries to strengthen their disaster risk management system and support each other in responding to the challenges of frequent natural disasters.

CBRN Exercise at Mormugao Port Trust, Goa
|
NDMA conducted three days basic training course on CBRN Emergency Management at Mormugao Port Trust, Goa to improve coordination between different disaster control departments from 11th to 13th April 2023. Around 42 participants underwent training including mock demonstrations cum drills by NDRF.

18th/20th April 2023 Table Top Mock Drill on Chardham Yatra
|
Dehradun: A Table Top Exercise and the Mock drill was conducted on the 18th and 20th April 2023 prior to start of Char Dham Yatra in association with the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority- UKSDMA for high level preparedness to cater for any disaster contingency.
Stakeholders from the Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board, Deptt of Disaster Management, all districts of the State CAPFs, Police, Fire Services etc. involved in the Char Dham Yatra participated simultaneously.

Three-day basic training in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Management for seaport emergency handlers' organised by the NDMA and Vizag Port Authority (@vptIndia ) jointly from 18th- 20th April 2023 concludes.

|
Senior officials from NDMA held a deliberation meeting for providing the technical support for the Post disaster needs assessment for recovery and reconstruction at Joshimath, Uttarakhand.

PDNA meeting
|
At the request of Uttarakhand Government, a Joint PDNA exercise for preparing Recovery and Reconstruction plan for Joshimath started on 22nd April. The team at Joshimath is led by NDMA and has experts from NIDM, CBRI, NEERI, GSI, NRSC, WIHG, UNDP, UNICEF and WFP.

Table Top cum Mock Exercise on Floods Disaster in Assam
|
National Disaster Management Authority along with the officials and all stakeholders from state of Assam conducted a Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise on Floods disaster on 25th and 27th of April 2023 in which all districts of the State participated simultaneously.
👉 The exercise aimed at exercising key disaster managers in their roles and responsibilities on various simulated emergency situations, particularly on the likely scenarios to be played out in the impending ME, discern gaps prior to the ME and evolve viable response plans.

Workshop on Capacity building of SDMAs by NDMA and Capacity Building Commission
|
Joint Workshop for State Disaster Management Authority Officials jointly organised by Capacity-Building Commission and NDMA at New Delhi.
• The workshop intended to appraise SDMAs on existing provisions for disaster mitigation (including funding) as well as commence discussions on pressing aspects of disaster management.
• The Capacity Building Workshop is a unique forum for discussing and creating a way forward for strengthening the capacities of SDMAs to undertake disaster mitigation initiatives in line with the resources provided to states by the 15th Finance Commission.
Dr. Krishna. S Vatsa, Member, NDMA highlighted the aspects of capacity building of Disaster Management Authorities through the development of a dedicated cadre of DM professionals.
Shri. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary (Policy and Plan), NDMA discussed the major components of the National Programmes and Policies on Forest Fire, Lightning, Drought, and River & Coastal Erosion in his presentation.
Col. KP Singh, Advisor (Ops & Comn) & Mit(I/c), NDMA highlighted the aspects associated with the following National Mitigation Programmes (under implementation) in his presentation during the workshop.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr PK Mishra, in his address stated that There should be a new way to look at capacity building and building expertise and managing institutions more effectively. It can be well structured and well designed; Our whole approach to Capacity building, learning, and training should be more role-based rather than rule-based.

Coordination meeting for Disaster Preparedness (Non-Aviation related) including training for CBRN emergencies
|
Senior officials from NDMA held a coordination meeting for disaster preparedness to deliberate and finalize the modalities of conduct of Disaster management training (CBRN/non-aviation related) cum validation of disaster preparedness in respect of Mumbai Airport to ensure the safe and secure conduct of G-20 events. The tentative dates for the conduct of the exercise have been scheduled for 8th to 11th May 2023.
