NDMA along with the officials and all stakeholders from the state of Himachal Pradesh conducted a Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise on Floods/Landslides disasters on the 6th and 8th of June 2023 in which all districts of the State participated simultaneously. 👉 The exercise aimed at exercising key disaster managers in their roles and responsibilities in various simulated emergency situations, particularly on the likely scenarios to be played out in the impending ME, discern gaps prior to the ME and evolve viable response plans.

A meeting with NDMA officials and senior officers of MoEFCC was chaired by Dr. Krishna S Vatsa, Member, NDMA to discuss the implementation of the National Programme on Forest Fire Management.

A meeting with NDMA Members, Senior officials and Senior officers of National Institute of Disaster Management, National Disaster Response Force, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare was chaired by Dr Krishna S Vatsa, Member, NDMA to discuss the prevention of fatal accidents by falling into abandoned bore wells and tube wells. 👉 Deliberations and presentations on the following were taken up during the meeting:
♦ Legal and Policy Framework, Guidelines, regarding Bore wells.
♦ SOPs on Bore Well Incident Response and lessons learnt.
♦ Capacity Building/ Provisions of Training Modules for responders during Bore Wells and Tube Wells incidents.
♦ Role/Responsibilities of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) for prevention of Bore Wells and Tube Wells incidents.

A meeting with PCCF (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests) /HoFF (Head of Forest Force) of all the States /UTs and the Secretary- in-charges of Disaster Management/ SDMAs of the states affected due to #ForestFire was organised to discuss and deliberate upon the implementation of the National Programme on Forest Fire Management under the joint chairpersonship of Dr Krishna S Vatsa, Member, NDMA and Dr CP Goyal, DGF&SS at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun along with the Senior NDMA officials and senior officers of MoEFCC, ICFRE, UNDP, FSI etc.
👉The programme aims to minimize forest fires by informing, enabling and empowering forest fringe communities and incentivizing them to work in tandem with the State forest departments. Further, it intends to substantially reduce the vulnerability of forests across the diverse forest ecosystems in the country against fire hazards.

Members and Senior Officials from NDMA held a meeting with the officers of the Ministry of Mines, GOI to review, deliberate and consider approval of the Disaster Management Plan (DMP) of Ministry of Mines.
👉 A Disaster Management Plan of a Ministry / Department is a comprehensive plan covering all the 4 phases of disaster management cycle which will spell out the actions to be taken by the Ministry / Department.  

Members and Senior officers from NDMA held a meeting to discuss and deliberate upon the Compendium of Best Practices and Indigenous Technical Knowledge with regard to Management of Forest Fire prepared by the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. Members of the Technical Advisory Group (Forest Fire) and Senior officers from Forest Research Institute participated in the meeting.

Three-day basic training in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Management for seaport emergency handlers was conducted by NDMA and @paradipport (Paradip Port Authority) jointly from 21st- 23rd June 2023.
 The training programme aims at increasing the awareness and enhancing the preparedness of Seaport Emergency Handlers (SEHs) to respond to CBRN emergencies at the seaports. This training programme will improve the CBRN safety at our seaports by enabling the SEHs to handle any CBRN emergency.

Members and Senior officials of NDMA held a meeting for the discussion and deliberation on the ‘Template for proposals on Drought Mitigation Plan' under the NDMF (National Disaster Mitigation Fund) proposed by the XVth Finance commission- 2021-2026.
 The template has been prepared jointly in consultation by NDMA and National Rainfed Area Authority- NRAA. Upon realizing the urgency to take appropriate measures to develop a framework for drought mitigation National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) and NDMA collaborated to take forward the XVth Finance Commission’s recommendations and initiate to development of district-level drought mitigation plans, by utilising the allocated amount of Rs. 100 crores each for the twelve most drought-prone States over five years.

Lt Gen SC Dash, YSM, VSM** DCIDS (Med) HQ IDS and other Officers today called on the Members and Senior Officials of NDMA to discuss and deliberate upon the activities w.r.t CBRN emergencies and sharing of best practices.
It was aimed to discuss modalities, increase our preparedness and response capabilities to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) disasters and emergencies at different levels.

A review meeting was held in BSDMA- Bihar State Disaster Management Authority for coordination of NDMA schemes under the chairmanship of Honourable VC Dr. Uday Kant. Valuable information was received from Shri Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, NDMA.
Mutual cooperation and sharing of various programs were discussed to continue the processes on different thematic areas of DRR. Hon'ble Member Shri Manish Kumar Verma thanked everyone for attending the meeting.

The 12-day Aapda Mitra training program concluded successfully on 29th June, 2023. The feedback from the participants was extremely good and they requested the organizers to conduct more such training programs on a regular basis.
