12th March 2024 :-A Meeting was held with NavIC based solutions for disaster management by Elena Geo Systems
|
Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain(Retd), Member, NDMA chaired a meeting on 12.3.2024 with Elena Geo Systems Private Ltd. for NavIC based solutions for Disaster Management at NDMA Bhawan. Senior officials NDMA and Lt Col V S Velan, CTO of Elena Geo Systems and others participated in the meeting.

21 March 2024: Meeting with NGOs on “Role of NGO’s in changing Disaster Risk Perspective” at NDMA Bhawan
|
Shri Kamal Kishore Member HoD, NDMA chaired a meeting on the “Role of NGO’s in changing Disaster Risk Perspective” at NDMA Bhawan. NGO’s and CSO’s have a very important role to play in all the phases of disaster management, including the response, relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction, recovery, preparedness and mitigation. NGOs have close associations and strong linkages with local communities and they can significantly contribute to their needs, especially in Disaster Management. The NGO sector has emerged as critical sector in reducing disaster risks through their unique interventions at various levels. The role of NGOs in catastrophes in recent times and it is becoming important for Government and NGOs to work together in collaborative manner.
In context to it the coordination meeting was held in which almost 20 NGOs working in different parts of the country participated. They provided their valuable views and takeaways on how NDMA can collaborate with them in risk management and disaster management.

28 March 2024: Mock Exercise on Earthquake Preparedness in Delhi
|
NDMA conducted Mock Exercises on Earthquake on various vulnerable areas of Delhi. All 11 districts of Delhi along with the District Collector and the line Departments participated in the Mock Exercise. The aim and objectives of the Mock Exercise were:
- Review the DM plan and associated SOPs of the NCT of Delhi and its districts, as well as individual DM plans of each Department in every District.
- Highlight the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders as per Incident Response System (IRS) and institutionalize the use of IRS in the response mechanism.
- Ensure coordination among Emergency Support Functions at District level.
- Generate public awareness by involving the media, Local Governing Bodies (LGBs), NGOs and Community.
- Identify the gaps, in the resources, communications, response capabilities etc.

08 April 2024 : Joint Training session on Geospatial Application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data by Swiss Development Corporation and NDMA
|
A five-day training session on Geospatial Application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data by Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) was held at Tapovan hall, NDMA Bhawan, New Delhi. Officials from various states and some officials from NDMA and SDC took part in the brainstorming training programme.
The training course offered a general overview of the use of remote sensing data, SAR data and their use to support the mapping of natural disaster such as flood, glacier melting, landslides and subsidence with a specific focus on application in the Himalayan region. The main aim of training was providing a broader capacity building, covering both general and theoretical information on SAR data, an overview of the available satellite missions and available satellite missions and available data, pro and cons of different techniques in different contexts, discussing real case studies, running exercises mostly based on the analysis of SAR data and the application of InSAR (SAR interferometry) techniques, as well as the integration with different sensors, e.g. Optical data.

15 April 2024 : An Induction and Orientation programme for New Consultants of National Disaster Management Authority
|
Induction and Orientation Program of newly joined Consultants of NDMA was organized by National Disaster Management Authority to familiarize them with constitution, composition, functions of NDMA and projects being undertaken by NDMA. Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), Member, NDMA welcomed new consultants and briefed them.

16 April 2024 Meeting on Preparedness and Mitigation Measures on Thunderstorm and Lightening
|
Shri Krishna S Vatsa, Member NDMA chaired a review meeting on Preparedness and Mitigation Measures on Thunderstorm and Lightening affecting 11 states/Union Territories of the country. Representatives from India Meteorological Department, Delhi, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare etc. were also present during the review meeting.

18 April 2024 : Review Meeting on Preparedness for Heatwave, Hospital Fire and Forest Fire Plan
|
NDMA organized the 3rd review meeting with representative of 13 heat wave prone states in hybrid mode on 18th April 2024 under the chairmanship of Shri Krishna S. Vatsa, Member, NDMA for taking updates on the preparedness measures and planning efforts for preventing Hospital Fire and Forest Fire for the Summer Season, 2024. Meeting was attended by Officers from Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), DG Fire Services, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and representative of participating States. The chair welcomed all the attending participants’ and apprised the gathering of the need of timely preparedness and proactive actions at State/ District/ City level for tackling with heatwave, hospital fire and forest fire and in co-ordination with other stakeholders.
The representatives of the states were requested to brief with respect to Heatwave, Hospital fire and Forest fire preparedness. The states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Kerela, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh gave their brief on preparedness and action taken.

19 April 2024: Two MoUs signed by NDMA with Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) and Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS)
|
National Disaster Management Authority signed two MOUs with Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) and with Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) bolestering research, policy formulation and intellectual discourse in the critical domains of Land Warfare and Air Power.
