To create a respectful and safe workplace for women employees, NDMAorganized a POSH Workshopat its Headquarters in Delhi on 01st Oct 2024. The team of the National Commission for Women (NCW), led by Ms Meenakshi Negi, Member Secretary, conducted sessions on the POSH laws and workplace safety for women employees.

All senior officials of NDMA, including Shri Rajendra Singh, HoD, Dr Krishna S Vatsa, Member, and Sh. Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Advisor Mitigation, was present at the workshop.

As part of the nationwide #SwachhataHiSeva campaign on Gandhi Jayanti, a cleanliness drive was organised at NDMA Bhawan on 2nd Oct 2024, participated by all senior officials and staff members of NDMA.

The office premises were cleaned, unnecessary files were discarded and documents were rearranged in order to improve efficiency and promote a cleaner & organized work environment.

Marking ‘Vigilance Awareness Week-2024’,NDMA organized a two-day Refresher Courseon ‘Government Rules and Procedures on Ethics, Conduct and Procurement’ attended by its officials and staff members, at NDMA Bhawan, on 8th& 9thOct, 2024.

Hon'ble Minister of State of Home Affairs, Sh. Nityanand Rai inaugurated the Indian Exhibition Booth at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) in Manila, Philippines, showcasing India’s commitment to disaster risk reduction.

Hon'ble Minister launched the “Proceedings of National Workshop on Heat Wave-2024: Management Interventions and Mitigation Strategies for Heat Wave’ published by NDMA, at the side event of APMCDRR- 2024, in the presence of Sh. Kamal Kishore, SRSG, UNDRR and Sh. Rajendra Singh, HoD, NDMA.

These proceedings emphasize the importance of preparedness, mitigation, and management strategies to protect vulnerable communities He also launched NDMA’s Coffee Table Book on ‘Apada Mitra’ during the occasion.

These books were concurrently released at NDMA headquarters in New Delhi inthe presence of representatives of UNICEF, UN Women, CDRI and NDMA.

Shri Nityanand Rai, Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs participated in the Ministerial Conference at the APMCDRR-2024, inaugurated by Mr. Bongbong Marcos, President of the Republic of Philippines, in Manila, Philippines, on 15th Nov 2024.

He emphasized India’s commitment to implement inclusive and proactive actions to mitigate the impact of disasters, in line with the 10-Point Agenda for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)outlined by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

These books were concurrently released at NDMA headquarters in New Delhi inthe presence of representatives of UNICEF, UN Women, CDRI and NDMA.

Sh. Rajendra Singh, HoD, NDMA hold a bilateral meeting with MrBernardo Rafaelito R. Alejandro IV, MNSA, Civil Defense Deputy Administrator for Administration and Education ofthe Republic of Philippines,on sidelines of APMCDRR-2024, on 16 Oct 2024.

Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration on capacity building, expert training, and best practice sharing for disaster risk reduction.

Hon'ble Minister of State (Home Affairs), Sh. Nityanand Rai met with Sh. Kamal Kishore, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, on the sidelines of APMCDRR-2024, in Manila, on 16 Oct 2024.

The UN representative praised India's efforts in strengthening early warning systems at both regional and global levels and India’s proactive initiatives in disaster risk reduction.
Sh. Kamal Kishore also acknowledged India's allocation of dedicated disaster risk management funds under the XV Finance Commission. Hon’ble MoS also appreciated the efforts of SRSG in the field of DRR and ensured India will continue to extend its cooperation to UNDRR.

Mr. Rajendra Singh, HoD & Member, NDMA held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Bhishmakumar Bhusal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal, on the sidelines of APMCDRR-2024, on 17 Oct 2024.

Dr. Bhusal acknowledged India’s proactive assistance during the recent flood outburst and both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction.

Sh. Rajendra Singh met the representatives of Indianorganizationsparticipating in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on DRR-2024 and exchanged views on the best practices in the field of DRR, on the sidelines of the APMCDRR.

NDMA’s role in disaster risk reduction was appreciated by all participating representatives during the discussion.
