1st May 2024- Brainstorming session on "Alternative Source of Funding for Disaster Risk Management" held at NDMA Bhawan:
|
Shri Krishna Swaroop Vatsa, Member, NDMA chaired a brainstorming session on "Alternative Source of Funding for Disaster Risk Management" at NDMA Bhawan on 1st May 2024 with representatives of the World Bank, Foyter Infra, UNDP India, FICCI India, Indian National Insurance, Pune and other organisations attended the meeting.
During the session, it was highlighted that a team may be formed to discuss alternative sources of financing and formulate suggestions to submit to the Department of Financial Services.

3rd May 2024- Review Meeting on Pre-Monsoon Preparedness for the Upcoming Southwest Monsoon held at NDMA Bhawan
|
Shri Kamal Kishore, Member & HoD, NDMA chaired a high-level meeting at NDMA Bhawan, on 3rd May 2024 and reviewed the Pre-Monsoon Preparedness for the Upcoming Southwest Monsoon-2024.
All other Members of NDMA including Shri Rajendra Singh, Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), Shri Krishna S. Vatsa, along with Shri Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Advisor (Mitigation), Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General (Meteorology), India Meteorological Department and other stakeholders participated in the meeting.

3rd May 2024: A brainstorming Workshop on ‘improving Early Warning Services at the Local Level’ held at NDMA Bhawan

Shri Kamal Kishore, Member & HOD, NDMA chaired a brainstorming workshop on ‘Improving early warning services at the local level’ at NDMA Bhawan, on 3rd May 2024.
The meeting was attended by senior representatives of several stakeholder agencies, including Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General (Meteorology), India Meteorological Department, Mr Rajesh S, Inspector General of Forest, Forest Protection Division (FPD),MoEF&CC, Dr R Krishnen Director, IITM, Pune, Dr Manu Gupta from SEEDS INDIA, Dr Sunil Dubey, Director, Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC), Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Karan Aggarwal, Partner (Strategic Partnership), Google, Manish Mohandas, Programme Officer (Resilience), UNDP and others.
The main objectives of the meeting were:
- Enhancing the Weather Information Monitoring Network,
- Advancing the Weather and Climate Analysis and Forecasting Capabilities at the local level
- Providing Weather and Climate Advisories for Relevant Economic Sectors,
- Towards Robust Early Warning Dissemination Systems

8th May 2024 : Induction Training Program of IFS Trainee Officers held at NDMA Bhawan
|
NDMA organised an ‘Induction Training Program’ for IFS Trainee Officers, at its headquarters in New Delhi, on 8th May 2024. Lt. Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd), Member, NDMA and other senior officials of NDMA briefed and sensitised the participants about the role of NDMA and the International perspective of India's Disaster Management.
Trainee Officers were also briefed about strategies to mitigate the damage and destructions caused by natural and man-made disasters through sustained and collective efforts of government agencies, NGOs and people’s participation.

15th May 2024 : NDMA conducts a Media Briefing on its joint ‘Table Top Exercise on Disaster Management’

NDMA conducted a Media Briefing in Lucknow, on 15th May 2024 and briefed the media about the proposed activities of the Joint ‘Table Top Exercise (TTEx)’ by NDMA in association with Central Command of the Indian Army held in Lucknow on 16th May 2024.
Lt. Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), Member, NDMA and Lt. Gen. Yogendra Dimri (Retd.), Vice Chairman, Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority addressed the media and answered their queries regarding TTEx.

16th May 2024 NDMA and Indian Army Central Command Conduct a Multi-Stakeholder Table Top Exercise (TTEx) on Disaster Management
|
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in collaboration with the Headquarters of the Central Command of the Indian Army, successfully conducted a crucial Table Top Exercise on disaster management in Lucknow on 16 May 2024. This multi-stakeholder exercise brought together central ministries, disaster management institutes, early warning agencies, and disaster management organizations from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh – the four disaster-affected states in the country.

17th May 2024 : The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas presents its comprehensive Disaster Management Plan to NDMA:

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas presented its comprehensive Disaster Management Plan to the senior NDMA leadership at NDMA Bhawan, on 17th May 2024. Shri Rajendra Singh, Member & HoD, NDMA, Shri Krishna Swaroop Vatsa, Member, NDMA, Smt. Sujata Sharma, JS, MoPNG and other key stakeholders from the oil and gas sectors were present in the meeting.
The plan, developed through a collaborative approach, including safety inputs from the Oil Industry Safety Directorate, will be crucial to strengthening DRR, ensuring coordinated & effective action during emergencies in the oil & gas sector.

22nd May 2024: NDMA conducts 4th Review Meeting of Heat-prone States:
|
NDMA organised the 4th Review Meeting of the heat-prone States, in hybrid mode on 22 May 2024, under the chairmanship of Shri Rajendra Singh, Member & Head of Department, NDMA, to review the heatwave preparedness measures taken by the States for the ongoing summer season- 2024.
The meeting was attended by members and senior officers of NDMA and representatives/Nodal of seven heat-prone States viz. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
All 07 States briefed the NDMA about the heat-wave situation and measures being taken by them to address the issue in their respective States.

Shri Rajendra Singh, Member & HoD, NDMA chaired the meeting held at NDMA Bhawan over the Joint Action Plan on ‘Hospital Fire Safety’ and ‘School Fire Safety’ with senior representatives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Ministry of Education, Directorate General of Fire Service and Civil Defense, and National Disasters Relief Force (NDRF), on 30th May 2024.

31st May 2024- NDMA reviews Heatwave preparedness measures of Bihar, Odisha, Delhi and Rajasthan:
|
Shri Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Advisor (Mitigation), NDMA, chaired a meeting and reviewed the preparedness measures and initiatives taken by four heatwave-prone states namely Bihar, Odisha, Delhi and Rajasthan to tackle the Heatwave situation, on 31st May 2024, at NDMA Bhawan.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss on heatwave-related illness and mortality in all four States. Representatives of all four States briefed the NDMA about the initiatives and preparedness measures taken to tackle the heatwave situation.
