1st and 3rd March 2023 Conduct of Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise (Goa) For Cyclone Disaster

National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with Goa State Disaster Management Authority conducted a State Level Table top and Mock Exercise on Cyclones in both North and South Goa Districts to enhance the level of Disaster Preparedness and identify the gaps for Capacity Building with various stakeholders on 1st and 3rd of March respectively.

14th March 2023 Review meeting on Forest Fire incidences
|
Members and Senior Officials from National Disaster Management Authority held a review meeting on the forest fire incidences with the officers of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change & Govt of Goa to discuss and deliberate upon the action taken to deal with the forest fire situation in the state of Goa.

16th March 2023 Briefing on CAP & ERSS Projects
|
Senior officials from the National Disaster Management Authority organized the debriefing session for the working/functioning of the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) incorporating all the features/highlighting components of the project.
The session was organized in the presence of Additional Secretary PMO along with the senior members of National Disaster Management Authority to review the implementation status of the project as well.
The same exercise was carried out for the ERSS (Emergency Response Support System) project in association with the stakeholders from Centre for Development of Advanced Computing along with the demo session.

20th March 2023 One Day training programme on Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk reduction (SFDRR)
|
National Disaster Management Authority conducted ‘One Day training programme on Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk reduction (SFDRR) at National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi.
The training aimed to equip in implementing of Sendai Framework for DRR and monitoring the progress with the following key objectives:
● To enhance the knowledge about the Sendai Framework for DRR.
● To take stock of the progress of implementation of SFDRR and challenges in the process particularly at district level.
● To brief about the tools and approaches to support states and districts in implementing the Sendai Framework for DRR. This includes State Level SDMPs, DDMPs and Departmental Plans etc.
● To develop understanding about the Scope and Process of carrying out Mid Term Review of Sendai Framework for DRR including the information and data required for MTR.
● To develop skills on maintaining data the NDMIS SFM Module and user admin at district level.

20th March 2023 Meeting regarding 'National Programme on Forest Fire Management' with IGNFA Director
|
Senior Members and officials from National Disaster Management Authority, India today held a meeting with the Director , Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Sh. Bharat Jyoti to discuss and deliberate upon the capacity-building components/various program activities associated with DRR, and the 'National Programme on Forest Fire Management'.

Senior officials from National Disaster Management Authority, India held the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee to provide inputs on new funding arrangements for responding to loss and damage (under the UNFCCC process) under the chairmanship of Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary (Policy and Plan).
This Committee has been constituted of experts from Ministries and technical institutes.
The technical committee will provide inputs for the country's position and the upcoming meeting of the transitional committee on new funding arrangements for responding to loss and damage on the following:
(a) Establishing institutional arrangements, modalities, structure, governance, and terms of reference of the fund and funding arrangement.
(b) Defining the elements of the new funding arrangements not limited to eligibility, mode of application, dispersal etc.
(c) Identifying and expanding sources of funding.

21st -23rd March 2023 Conduct of State Level Mock exercise on Cyclone Disaster in West Bengal
|
National Disaster Management Authority along with the officials and all stakeholders from state of West Bengal conducted a Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise on Cyclone disaster on 21st and 23rd of March 2023 in which all districts of the State participated simultaneously.
👉 The exercise aimed at exercising key disaster managers in their roles and responsibilities on various simulated emergency situations, particularly on the likely scenarios to be played out in the impending ME, discern gaps prior to the ME and evolve viable response plans.

Senior officials of NDMA reviewed the preparedness and mitigation measures taken by most forest fire-prone states in the country. 13 states presented the measures taken to prevent, mitigate and manage forest fires. The meeting was chaired by Members , NDMA - Dr Krishna S Vatsa , Shri Rajendra Singh, Member, Shri Alok IAS, Additional Secretary and Shri Kunal Satyarthi, JS (Policy and Plan).

22nd March 2023 Meeting with USFS delegation
|
A delegation from United State Fire Service (USFS) paid a visit to NDMA and had a discussion meeting with the officials to understand the forest fire scenario in the country and the management practices carried out in terms of preparedness, mitigation and response under the chairmanship of Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary (Policy and Plan) , NDMA with other members of USFS.

22nd /24th March 2023 Conduct of Multi-State Mock exercise on Earthquake for Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh
|
A multi-state mega mock exercise was conducted by National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Delhi for earthquake preparedness in Delhi. The exercise aimed to test & improve the preparedness of response mechanisms & coordination between local authorities in the event of an earthquake. Teams of NDRF, CAPF DDMA, Delhi Police, Fires Services, Traffic Police and NGOs participated in the exercise.

24th March 2023 Visit of Media Delegation from LAC (Latin America and the Caribbean) countries to NDMA
|
A delegation of journalists /editors from LAC (Latin America and the Caribbean) countries paid a visit to NDMA to interact with the Members and Senior officials of National Disaster Management Authority and National Disaster Response Force ; discussed issues relevant to Disaster Management and Risk Reduction. The officials during the discussion appraised the delegation of various initiatives and projects undertaken by NDMA in the country.

29th March 2023 CBRN Exercise at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port kolkata
|
Three-day basic training in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Management for seaport emergency handlers' was conducted by NDMA and Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata jointly from 27th- 29th March 2023. 42 participants from West Bengal State Emergency Handlers, Kolkata & Haldia port participated; NDRF 2 nd bn conduct mock drills at Kolkata port

29th March 2023 Meeting regarding Sensitization Exercise and Demonstration for Parliament House
|
A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), Member, NDMA to deliberate and finalize the modalities and preparatory measures for Sensitization Exercise and Demonstration for Parliament House to be conducted in the first week of April 2023. Stakeholders from Delhi Fire Service, MHA, NDRF, NSG, CISF, NCS, IB , Delhi Police participated in the discussion meet.
