    First Aid

If the patient is breathing but unconscious, place in the recovery position to prevent choking if vomiting occurs
If the patient isn’t breathing – tilt head back and check throat for any blockage. Use a finger carefully to remove any obstruction
Place a handkerchief or this cloth over the patient’s mouth and clamp your mouth to completely cover the patient’s mouth. Breathe deep and blow for a couple of seconds until you know that the patient’s chest is rising
Listen for breathing and check pulse
If there is no pulse, perform CPR
    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Don’t move victim unless necessary for prevention of further injury
Apply an ice pack if available, but wrap in cloth-never apply to naked skin
Brace the injured leg to the good leg; place padding between the ankles and knees
If a stretcher is needed, improvise by pushing poles through arms of jackets or trouser legs
Support the arm in a triangular bandage, tied behind the neck. Weight should be carried at the elbow, which is held close to the upper body
Don’t use adhesive dressings on burns
Severe burns should be run under cold water for at least 10 minutes or until the pain subsides
Burn should be covered with clean material to prevent infection. If suitable cotton fabric is unavailable, use plastic bag or cling film
