Reducing risk of disasters: Taking it to India’s public

Senior Officials of National Disaster Management Authority led by Sh Alok, Additional Secretary, NDMA held a discussion meeting with the Hon'ble LG UT of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.).

🔘 The Hon'ble LG emphasized the need to strengthen capacity and capabilities at the Community and First Responder levels, along with implementing risk mitigation initiatives for Ladakh.

NDMA on request of Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, HPSDMA after the massive floods of 9th-11th July 2023 is conducting a Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) for recovery & reconstruction planning.

👉 A 22-member team led by Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, NDMA and comprising of experts from NIDM, CDRI, UNDP, UNICEF, IIT, Jaypee University, and the other 60 officers of six districts from HPPUD, HPSEB, Jal Shakti, Agriculture and Horticulture departments participated for the same.

Senior Officials of NDMA held a interaction meeting with various institutions to discuss and deliberate upon to develop proposals for Drought Mitigation Plans

Workshop for the "Review & Documentation of Best Practices of Up-Scaling Aapda Mitra Scheme(UAMS)" was organised by NDMA in collaboration with the Department of Revenue & Disaster Management, Govt. of Haryana.
🔘 The Workshop involved participation of the NDMA, States/UTs, trained volunteers and officers/Officials. This provided a platform and opportunity for the Project States/UTs to share their experiences like issues faced in the implementation of the Scheme, evaluate the progress made so far, identify areas of success, etc.
🔘 The Workshop for the "Review & Documentation of Best Practices of Up-Scaling Aapda Mitra Scheme(UAMS) aimed ❖ To bring together stakeholders, and participants, and to evaluate the progress made so far by the State/UTs and to identify areas of success, etc.

❖ To assess the methodology and approach used by States/UTs for implementation of the scheme.
❖ To identify challenges or obstacles faced during the implementation of the scheme, if any.
❖ To document the utilization of Aapda Mitra Volunteers in Disaster Response and Preparedness activities.
🔘 Shri Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, NDMA gave presentation and brief about the new project on Volunteerism in Disaster Management through the participation of NYKS, NSS, NCC and Bharat Scout & Guide as Aapda Mitra also.

NDMA convened a meeting headed by Shri Krishna S Vatsa, Member, NDMA along with Shri. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, Policy and Plan, NDMA to discuss and deliberate upon Drought Mitigation Plans under NDMF (National Disaster Mitigation Fund) with the States/UTs.

NDMA convened a meeting headed by Shri Alok, Additional Secretary, NDMA to discuss and deliberate upon the status of the loss and damage covering SDG/SFDRR indicators with the States/UTs.

❖ Further, States/UTs have been requested to share the issues they face with the availability and uploading of disaster data into the NDMIS (National Disaster Management Information System) portal.

Shri. Anil Bhaidas Patil, Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation, Disaster Management, Maharastra govt. visited NDMA & held a meeting with the Members of NDMA to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the domain of disaster management & matters of mutual interest.

NDMA organised three days CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear) Emergency Management training programme at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal jointly from 29th- 31st August 2023 to improve coordination between different disaster control departments

👉 This basic-level CBRN (Chemicals, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) training course intends to enhance Emergency Handlers' ability to recognize, survive and respond to CBRN incidents.
