Regional Conclave 08th-09th March 2022

NDMA organized the First Regional Conclave of the SDMAs on Disaster Management in Chennai in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Government bringing together 11 coastal states and UTs facing similar kinds of hazards and vulnerabilities.

National Workshop on Heat Wave
|
NDMA held a 'National Webinar' on Heat wave with all vulnerable sates and experts from India meteorological department. The government of Bihar would take stock of preparedness for the up-coming Heat wave season.The workshop aimed at sensitizing States to the need for preparing and implementing their Heatwave Action Plans in line with NDMA's ‘Guidelines for Preparation of Action Plan – Prevention and Management of Heatwave’.

47th Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) visit to NDMA - 14th March 2022
|
Forty-six participants from Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) visited NDMA on March 14th 2022, with an aim to discuss the disaster management framework in India and best practices in the field.
To set the tone of the interaction, NDMA made a presentation outlining the global trends in disasters, the institutional mechanism for DRR in India and the functioning of the Authority.
The interaction was aimed at a better understanding of disaster management in India with insights into the role of concerned authorities and the entities associated to further enhance the skills to coordinate with all stakeholders for better governance. Issues such as the role of satellites in Early Warning, coordination mechanism for disaster relief distribution, and preparedness for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear disasters were also discussed

Review of Implementation of NDMA’s Schemes with Concerned States- 16th March 2022
|
A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri. Kamal Kishore, Member, NDMA for the implementation of the following NDMA's schemes with the concerned stakeholders/implementing agencies:-
a) Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
b) Strengthening of (DDMAs) District Disaster Management Authorities of hazard-prone districts out of the 115 identified backward districts.

Meeting regarding Forest Fire Compendium Project-21st March 2022
|
Members and senior officials of National Disaster Management Authority held a virtual meeting to consider and review the project namely 'Compendium of best practices and indigenous technical knowledge with regard to management of Forest Fire' with the officials of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.
National Disaster Management Authority, signed an MoU with the Forest Research Institute on 6th April 2021 to undertake the research work related to the preparation of a Compendium of the best practices and indigenous technical knowledge with regard to management of forest fire.

Steering Committee Meeting on CAP based Integrated alert system (SACHET) Phase-1 project- 23rd March 2022
|
National Disaster Management Authority, organized meeting of Steering Committee virtually on Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) based integrated alert system (SACHET) phase-I project to discuss its implementation and current status of the project by C-DOT under the chairmanship of Lt. Gen.(Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain at NDMA Bhawan. SACHET is a comprehensive, early warning system for issuing geo-specific alerts in the wake of a disaster. The system is expected to be a game-changer in India's response to disasters.

Launch of “Training Programme on Landslide Risk Mitigation and Detailed Project Report (DPR) Preparation”- 23rd March 2022
|
A three-day “Training Programme on Landslide Risk Mitigation and Detailed Project Report (DPR) Preparation” program was jointly organized by National Disaster Management Authority, Dept. of Geology, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and IIT Mandi. The training involved discussion on elements of DPR, Landslide monitoring and alert generation, geotechnical investigation schemes for Landslide Mitigation methods and measures etc.
